Drawing upon our experience of treating over 2,000 couples per year, together with the invaluable support provided by our satellite fertility clinics, our experienced team of doctors, nurses, embryologists and counsellors are committed to providing you with a holistic and considered approach to investigating and treating a wide spectrum of fertility problems.

As Embryologist you will be responsible for performing all aspects of the routine embryology service offered by the Fertility Unit, talking patients through the process and ensuring that they receive the best service possible. You will also process routine laboratory administration, ensuring the correct policies and procedures are followed. This is a full time role working 37.5hrs per week. The salary is attractive and competitive, and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Key responsibilities will include:  

  • Attendance in theatre for egg collections and for identification and grading of eggs.
  • Prepare sperm from fresh or frozen semen for all IVF and ICSI treatments and intrauterine inseminations - freeze semen samples when required.
  • Insemination of eggs, Embryo grading and selection for transfer.
  • Embryo cryopreservation by vitrification, subsequent thawing and transfer.
  • Adhere to strict quality control procedures in the laboratory, including regular monitoring of equipment and the environment and maintenance of a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records or all gametes and embryos in accordance with HFEA code of practice and local protocols.
  • Responsible for the implementation of Health and Safety at Work regulations in all aspects of laboratory work.
  • Responsible for ensuring safe and proper handling of gametes and embryos while in his/her care.
  • Ensure the safety of cryopreserved sperm and embryos at all times by regularly checking levels of liquid nitrogen in the cryopreservation storage tank(s).
  • Participate in the multi-disciplinary aspects of the team’s work including taking telephone calls and enquiries.

For this role you will hold a BSc in Life Science and be ACE certificated with experience of clinical ICSI. We can consider overseas applicants for this role.
