We have a new state of art laboratory in a purpose-built fertility clinic on the edge of Leeds city centre. Due to recent expansion our friendly, ambitious and dynamic embryology team are looking for an enthusiastic graduate to join us in the position of Trainee Embryologist. 

Create will prove the successful candidate training in all aspects of IVF treatment cycles, including ICSI, oocyte/embryo vitrification.

Since the clinic is specialised in Natural and Mild IVF, the candidate will be working with low egg and embryo numbers and attention to detail is essential.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as the role requires patient contact and a close working relationship with a multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will work 40 hours per week plus participate in the weekend rotas.

  • Report to the lab manager
  • Understand Health and Safety and COSHH
  • Understand the UK regulations and the role of the HFEA
  • Understand Risk principles and reporting of accidents and near misses
  • Understand Manual handling
  • Understand and apply aseptic technique, cleaning and clean room principles
  • Preparation of dishes, tubes and media for assisted conception.
  • Use of a database to collate laboratory information
  • Train all aspects of clinical embryology including, TVOR’s, semen analysis, sperm preparations, ICSI, IVF inseminations, ET’s, embryo & oocyte vitrification& warming
  • Develop personal knowledge of all aspects of fertility treatment
  • Build continuing profession development portfolio in preparation HCPC registration
  • Communication sensitivity with patient to provide individualised information and clinical care in a profession and empathetic manner
  • Assist with maintenance of quality control
  • Discuss with patients and review clinic and regulatory consents
  • To participate in embryology meetings to share ideas, best practice, and continuous improvement 
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times

Experience Required:  Experience of working within a healthcare laboratory (desired however not essential)
Education Required:  Life Sciences degree & Masters Degree (Essential)
Salary:  Dependent on Experience
