Reproductive Technologist (Andrology)

 To assist with all aspects of the Andrology service under the supervision of the Andrology Services Manager and Head of Laboratory


  •  To be completely confidential in all matters pertaining to Manchester Fertility, and adhere to the guidelines of the regulatory bodies
  • Assist the Andrology Services Manager in the Diagnostic Andrology Laboratory and with administrative tasks within the laboratory and office
  • Perform diagnostic semen analysis and cryopreservation
  • Perform sperm donor bookings and assist in the provision of a donor sperm bank service to patients
  • Participate in the weekend rota as required
  • Maintain accurate laboratory and patient records using MedITEX database
  • Assist with sperm and embryo transfers between clinics
  • Perform laboratory witnessing duties as required
  • Contribute to laboratory functions including equipment monitoring, quality assurance, auditing, ordering and acquisition of equipment and stock, traceability, data input and record keeping
  • Participation in Performance Management Process

Broad scientific knowledge, as demonstrated by a degree in Biological Science

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Biological Sciences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working in a laboratory
  • Good physical dexterity with excellent hand-eye co-ordination and manipulation skills
  • Computer literacy including experience with the use of databases and spreadsheets
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Good analytical and judgement skills
  • Good administrative and record-keeping skills

Desirable requirements:

  • Knowledge of current regulations and legislation, including the HFEA Code of Practice
  • Experience of working in a regulated laboratory environment with quality assurance
  • Knowledge and practical experience of aseptic technique

Hours: Full time 37.5hrs per week.

Education Required:  Degree in Biological Sciences
Salary:  Depending on experience
