The Reproductive Health Group provides innovative, high quality Consultant led gynaecology, fertility and IVF care based at the state-of-the-art Centre for Reproductive Health.

We offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced ODP to join our friendly team to offer the best possible care for our patients. 

Main purpose of the job

The OPD plays an important role in making sure that every operation is as safe and effective as possible.

Main tasks of the role are as follows:

Manage and lead theatre staff adhering to CQC requirements

Scrubs/ laundry

Theatre tray ordering

Drug preparation

Preparation/recovery of patients

Clinical waste management

Stock orders for ward and theatre

Stock takes and controls

Equipment maintenance and scheduled services

Ensure adequate staffing for anticipated workload

Works as part of the surgical team, nurses, anaesthetists, surgeons, ward staff

Ordinary Controlled drugs

Responsible for ordering O2 and gasses safety

Theatre Packs

Phlebotomy

Update protocols

Preparing patient pathways

Any other tasks the Nurse manager allocates as appropriate

Ensure anaesthetic protocols are up to date.

Maintenance of resuscitation trolley

Infection control

Be efficient and reliable, with a methodical approach to work.

Have good observational skills for noticing changes in a patient's condition.

Reacting quickly to emergencies in a confined area.

Be able to gain the trust of colleagues and patients.

Have technical aptitude for working with machines.

Have good hand skills for using surgical instruments.

Have the stamina and fitness levels required for standing and lifting.

Experience Required:  Previous experience requires minimum 5 years Venepuncture and Cannulation IV drug administration ALERT ILS Control of CD’s
Education Required:  DipHC or degree in ODP practice or equivalent Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
Salary:  32000 DOE pro rata 3 days per week
