Sims IVF is seeking to recruit a full time Junior/Trainee Embryologist to join our team in Clonskeagh, Dublin, Ireland.

SIMS IVF is Ireland’s largest fertility clinic , performing over 1200 major IVF/ICSI/IMSI cycles per year, in addition to IUI’s, FET’s and surgical sperm retrievals, Sims IVF is a busy, vibrant and expanding unit. We also have an extremely active PGS programme working with partner clinics elsewhere in Europe.

Sims IVF is located in a 2,500sq/m facility in Clonskeagh, which has a 130sq/m laboratory complex, 3 operating theatres, 5 ultrasound suites and a 10 bed recovery ward.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and meticulous person to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should have previous experience in working within a fertility setting, either with a previous position in diagnostic andrology services, or embryology. The successful individual will be fully trained according to standard operating procedures to perform all routine procedures within the clinical embryology and andrology labs. You will receive a structured training from our team, to ensure that you are fully equipped to perform all your clinical duties and contribute to the success of the clinic. Participation in quality assurance and regular data analysis will also be expected. You will strive to provide the best quality care to our patients with your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, since all laboratory staff have a significant level of interaction with other clinical staff and patients.

Training/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Perform routine embryology and andrology procedures according to standard operation procedure (SOPs) such as daily preparation of culture media and dishes, gamete isolation and embryo handling
  • Perform conventional IVF insemination and intracytoplasmic injection procedures
  • Perform oocyte and fertilisation checks
  • Perform embryo grading and selection of embryos for embryo transfer and cryopreservation
  • Perform embryo transfers
  • Perform thawing and cryopreservation of embryos
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance within the lab
  • Able to communicate effectively within team and clinic
  • Recording and reporting results on lab patient management database
  • Able to provide care and compassion with any patient interactions
  • Maintaining patient records and charts to a high level
  • Participation in quality control checks on laboratory equipment
  • Perform other related duties as required

Any applicant should have a First Class or Upper Second Class Biological Science degree (or equivalent); a postgraduate qualification is desirable but not essential.

Attendance at local and international conferences and workshops is encouraged as soon as travel restrictions are eased.
