Nikon Instruments Inc strengthens partnership with Research Instruments to become exclusive hardware distributor in US

Falmouth, UK, 1 March 2014

US labs can now benefit from the seamless marriage of microscope and manipulator following the announcement of a new partnership. Research Instruments (RI), the largest IVF specific hardware supplier in the world, has expanded and consolidated its long-term relationship with Nikon Instruments Inc, giving them the status of exclusive hardware distributor in the US.

“It was extremely important for Research Instruments to identify a partner that shares our goals and high standards, and has the same commitment to provide customers with the highest service and support” said Bill Brown, Managing Director of Research Instruments. “We have worked with Nikon for over 20 years, and this is the natural progression of our close working relationship.”

Nikon has a deep history in the IVF field (the first test-tube baby was conceived using Nikon equipment) and coupled with the company’s expertise in selling and servicing systems, a partnership with RI will provide those working in this area of science a natural place for finding seamless and integrated operating systems, service and support.

“The innovation and quality for which RI is known, paired with Nikon’s range of microscopes, will result in product that users can begin working with immediately,” said Stephen Ross, PhD, General Manager of Product and Marketing at Nikon Instruments, Inc. “Nikon excels at bringing products to market that are ergonomic, easy-to-use, and don’t distract our scientists from their critical work. This business alliance speaks to that mission and we’re excited to now work with RI in the US.

Nikon strives to bring the best and most innovative products to our market. With the Integra 3™ being a natural match for our range of microscopes and further enhanced by the addition of the Saturn 5 Active™ Laser System - the world’s first directional laser system for IVF” Stephen Ross added, “our customers know they are getting the best for their clinic.” The Saturn’s moveable laser means biopsy techniques require minimal sample manipulation and the Integra 3™ micromanipulator, with the Thermosafe™ advanced heating system, is the only system designed and developed with ART procedures in mind, maintaining sample quality, offering increased precision and streamline ease of use.

Research Instruments’ name is synonymous with innovation and quality and Nikon’s excellent reputation in the fertility field will result in a formidable partnership. Together RI and Nikon will offer the best possible options and commitment to the American market.
