Findings of the Justin McCracken Review
Association of Clinical Embryologists,
24 July 2013

The Department of Health has announced its decision to retain the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority as the independent regulator of assisted reproduction and embryo research across the UK. Rachel Cutting, Chair of the Association of Clinical Embryologists had this to say:

"We are very pleased to hear that the Department of Health has decided to retain the HFEA, following the independent review by Justin McCracken. The HFEA is a well-recognised and well-respected organisation that has specialised in fertility treatment for over 20 years. The regulator serves patients well by safeguarding practice and providing invaluable information to patients. ACE looks forward to continually working with the HFEA to ensure more effective regulation. Representatives from ACE welcomed the opportunity to be involved in the McCracken review and we very much hope the recommendations outlined here will be implemented in due course."
