The workshop will introduce the participants to vitrification of oocytes and embryos in open and closed system in slush of LN2.

  

09:00-13:00: Lectures

 

*  Principles on Vitrification of Oocytes and Embryos - Amir Arav, DVM PhD

 

*  Human Oocytes Vitrification - Yona Barak, PhD

 

*  Cryopreservation of Gametes and Embryos in Wild Animals - Joseph Saragusty, DVM PhD

 

*  Overview on research of Zoo and Wildlife reproduction - Thomas B. Hildebrandt, DVM PhD

 

13:00-14:00 Lunch

 

14:00-17:0       Hands-on Vitrification of Oocytes/Embryos

 

The session will include hands on practical and demonstrations.  During the session the participants will be introduced to the following:

             * Usage of various devices of open and closed systems. 

* The usage of slush (VitMaster) 

* Cryo-microscope as a tool for the evaluation of vitrification outcome

* Trouble shooting during cooling and warming 

And a demonstration of Ovarian Tissue cryopreservation

 

Objective: By the end of the workshop, participants should have increased their knowledge of vitrification and will have some experience of the practical aspects. However, to become competent in these procedures, they will have to develop proficiency testing in their own laboratories.

 

Fees:  The early bird fee for the workshop  is only 1000 euros.  Early bird registration closes 18th February, 2013.  Fees then increase to1200 euros. Registration fee includes coffee break & lunch on the day of the workshop.
