Polar body, cleavage and trophectoderm biopsy
Dr Joyce Harper, UCL Centre for PGD 02 January 2013 Aims of the courseThis workshop will provide embryologists with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of embryo biopsy for PGD/ PGS (including information/ live demonstration on vitrification of biopsied embryos). As well as lectures, the course will include hands on practicals and demonstrations including polar body, cleavage stage and blastocyst biopsy, tubing cells for molecular diagnosis, and spreading cells for FISH. During two days, delegates will have an extensive opportunity focussed on 'hands on training' at these techniques. Objectives of the courseBy the end of the course, all delegates should have increased their knowledge of embryo biopsy for PGD/ PGS and Vitrification. They will have some experience of the practical aspects of these advances but to become competent in these procedures, they will have to develop proficiency testing in their own laboratories. All laboratory techniques will require regular competency tests to ensure they are effectively used in the clinical setting. Continued Professional Development creditsThe workshop has been awarded 14 CPD credits from the Royal College of Pathologists. FeesThe early bird fee for the embryo biopsy workshop only is £1000. Early bird registration closes 1st February, 2013. Fees then increase to £1200 for the embryo biopsy workshop. The embryo biopsy workshop includes one dinner, a trip on the London Eye, all lunches and all refreshments during breaks.
