The Mushroom gets a hologram beware non-FDA approved copies

Research Instruments would like to warn US customers that copycat, non FDA approved “mushroom” air syringes are on sale in the US. Syringes for injection are critical to successful ICSI procedures, which is why they must be FDA approved for clinical use.

Some US customers have been returning to RI copycat “mushroom” air syringes for warranty repair mistakenly believing they have purchased the original mushroom air syringe from Research Instruments.  Sadly they have purchased a copy that apes our company colours and novel design features such as the equilibration button.  The base is nearly identical in colour and finish to our British, precision engineered product.

To protect our customers against these non-FDA approved copycat products, RI have taken the positive step of adding hologram stickers to our products to help aid our customers in spotting the genuine product.  The hologram has our company logo in it and is attached to all new products including the new easy fill, high accuracy SOS oil syringe.

The Research Instruments “Mushroom” has long been the choice for simple oil free injection.  The name resulted from Dr. Fernandez' clinic in Puerto Rico, after his biologist, Ms. Olgi Torres, said she thought it looked like a "ceta" or mushroom in Spanish.  The name has stuck ever since.  The product has developed since its introduction including an innovative new equilibration button being added in 1996 and a new deluxe model the SE in 2000.
