About the Clinic

We are a new IVF Clinic started by a team of 3 Senior Clinicians who have Collective experience of more than 30,000 Cycles over the last 15 years ( UKand Overseas)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Fertility Nurse/Midwife responsible for patient care, information counselling, treatment, dispensing and administration of drugs. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure with the DBS. The successful candidate will be confident, with clear communication and a real focus on providing outstanding clinical care to patients. They will be versatile and flexible, possess excellent attention-to-detail and be able to work accurately and efficiently in a pressured environment. They will be able to work with the various teams at all levels across the clinic. They will also be able to adhere to processes and protocols and have the ability to prioritise workload and work well in a tight knit team.

Salary is dependent upon experience and abilities (including ability to scan), plus a statutory pension and discretionary bonus. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure DBS.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical/Patient Care

  • Fully understand the clinic’s clinical protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), patient information and consent forms
  • Deal with telephone and e-mail enquiries in a professional manner and ensure that all information given is up to date and accurate
  • To contemporaneously ensure all offered treatment, advice, treatment cycles and outcomes are recorded in line with current HFEA guidelines and requirements and SOPs
  • Possess a working knowledge of their patient’s drug regimes and treatment plans
  • Perform venepuncture, interpret and give blood results when necessary
  • Co-ordinate treatment cycle plans and teach patients to self-administer fertility drugs
  • Obtain informed consent from patients within HFEA code of practice through nurse consultations
  • Inform patients about implications of treatment and provide information and support throughout treatment cycle
  • Assist with ultrasound scanning (following adequate training)
  • Prepare theatre for egg retrieval, embryo transfer, insertion if IUCD, cervical dilatation, surgical sperm retrieval and gynaecological procedures
  • Scrub and circulate in the procedure room, assist as necessary
  • Recover patients following IV sedation
  • Support patients during egg recovery and embryo replacement procedures and other treatment, giving advice where necessary
  • Admit, discharge and escort patients to and from Reception to the Recovery area
  • Ensure that patients are comfortable following procedures
  • Scan patients when undergoing embryo transfer following adequate training
  • To be able to provide cover for ill health or emergencies for other nursing staff
  • Support patients pre and post gynaecology exam
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times
  • Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Outlook and Word
  • Help to monitor and maintain adequate stock levels
  • Responsible for control and safe handling of all medication including controlled drugs in line with the home Office license and CQC

  • If you do not have scanning experience, after one years’ continuous service we will arrange for you to attend training in fertility ultrasonography. We will provide training and support with the aim to completing a qualification in fertility ultrasonography

Experience Required:  • At least 2 years of fertility experience
Education Required:  Fertility Nurse / Midwife with NMC Registration
