This film documents the Progress Educational Trust/Scottish Government event '40 Years of IVF: Past, Present and Future'.

The event marked the 40th birthday of the world's second ever IVF baby (and first IVF boy), Alastair MacDonald. Alastair and his mother, Grace MacDonald, looked back on the circumstances of Alastair's conception, birth and childhood.

They were joined on the speaker panel by experts, practitioners and regulators who discussed not only the early days of IVF, but also how the world of fertility has evolved since and what its future holds.
