JOB SUMMARY:

 To be involved in all aspects of the daily running of the Andrology Laboratory

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 To be completely confidential in all matters pertaining to Manchester Fertility and Semovo, and adhere to the guidelines of the regulatory bodies

  • Assist in the daily clinical (laboratory work) and administrative activities within the Andrology laboratory and office
  • Perform diagnostic semen analysis, sperm preparation and cryopreservation
  • Assist in the provision of Semovo’s donor sperm bank service
  • Participate in the weekend rota as required
  • Maintain accurate laboratory and patient records (paper records and MedITEX software)
  • Perform laboratory witnessing duties
  • Perform and witness sperm donor bookings
  • Assist in the cleaning of the Andrology and IVF laboratory
  • Contribute to laboratory functions including equipment monitoring, quality assurance, auditing, ordering and acquisition of equipment and stock, data input and record keeping
  • To accept further training as required for job fulfillment and personal development
  • Participation in Manchester Fertility’s Performance Management Process
  • Any other duties that the role requires as deemed appropriate by Manchester Fertility or Semovo

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Biological Sciences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working in a laboratory
  • Good physical dexterity with excellent hand-eye co-ordination and manipulation skills
  • Computer literacy including experience with the use of databases and spreadsheets
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Good analytical and judgement skills
  • Good administrative and record-keeping skills
     

Desirable requirements:

  • Knowledge of current regulations and legislation, including the HFEA Code of Practice
  • Experience of working in a regulated laboratory environment with quality assurance
  • Knowledge and practical experience of aseptic technique
  • Experience of working within the andrology field
     
Salary:  Salary Dependant on experience
