This new service has been established in response to the rising costs of assisted conception treatment both to patients treated privately and due to the very limited NHS funded provision. It is an exciting time to join us at this early stage of our service. BPAS Fertility consists of a hub unit in central London where the embryology and andrology labs are located and two satellite units outside of London where consultations, ultrasound scans and cycle management are carried out.

In the hub, a team of Nurses, Midwives, Doctors, Embryologists, Administrators and a Counsellor collaboratively provide not-for-profit, patient-centered, evidence-based fertility treatments including IVF, ICSI, frozen embryo cycles, fertility preservation and intra uterine inseminations for a whole range of patients.

Our Fertility Hub Nurses/Midwives provide effective fertility treatment and support to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out initial consultations with prospective fertility patients, including full medical history.
• Assess results of fertility tests and formulate a treatment plan.
• Perform ultrasound scans on women to assess ovarian reserve, endometrial thickness, follicular growth and viable pregnancy.
• Complete relevant documentation throughout the patient’s treatment pathway and bring to the attention of the wider team if there are any concerns.
• Teach patients how to self-administer the different fertility drugs throughout their treatment.
• Participate in clinical audit systems, risk assessments and research programs.
• Perform egg collections and embryo transfers (training will be provided for this)

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse or Midwife with experience in all areas of assisted conception. We are looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team whilst providing friendly and professional support to BPAS Fertility patients.

• Ultrasound scanning skills along with fertility drug administration and training skills.
• Experience of consent to treatment and storage of gametes and embryos.
• Knowledge of HFEA Code of Practice, Fertility Treatment and Physiology of Human Reproduction, both male and female
• Exceptional communication skills along with attention to detail and accurate administrative competence.
• Commitment to a patient-centered service.
• Participation in the on-call rota for the emergency phone as well as in the weekend and bank holiday rota to cover for the clinical needs of the unit.
• Able to travel to other sites for training and supervision.
