SUMMARY:

To provide the highest level of patient care in the provision of medical services for the investigation and treatment of fertility patients at Manchester Fertility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • To consult and treat patients according to their needs and best interest, irrespective of their gender or sexual orientation.
  • Manage the care of new and existing patients from consultation through to the completion of treatment working in accordance with clinical polices and protocols, and clinical evidence
  • Make decisions regarding patient treatment in line with current protocols
  • Take part in clinical work which includes IUI, egg collections, embryo transfers and other fertility related procedures
  • Take responsibility for the safety of patients undergoing treatment
  • Maintain accurate and clear medical records and handle patient data responsibly
  • Have effective communication with patients and members of the team
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality at all times
  • Provide weekend medical cover on a rota basis
  • Provide medical advice to clinical, scientific and administration team
  • Be an active member of the clinical team by attending and contributing to regular meetings
  • Take responsibility for CPD and documentation of activity in support of revalidation.
  • Contribute to the various ongoing innovation clinical and technology projects

FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Have in-depth knowledge of the assessment and management of fertility problems
  • Maintain an interest in keeping up to date with developments in infertility treatment from a medical and scientific prospective.
  • Work in compliance with the HFEA Code of practice and GMC Good Medical practice.
  • Awareness of CMA guidance for fertility clinics

SKILLS:

  • Must have a good command of spoken and written English
  • Be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with doctors, nurses, embryologists and administrative staff
  • Have good organization and administrative skills
  • Have strong IT skills
  • Be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work without direct supervision
  • Be able to work at a fast pace to cope with the demands of the clinical work
  • Competence in pelvic ultrasound scanning is desirable
  • Competence in performing consultations and procedures required for fertility treatment is essential

GENERAL BACKGROUND, EXPERIENCE & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential

  • MBBS, or equivalent medical qualification
  • MRCOG, or equivalent
  • Proven experience in infertility medicine

Desirable

  • Subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery
  • Completion of ultrasound training
  • Able to perform diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy
