An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Donation Nurse Team Manager to join CARE Northampton, leading our Donation team and working as a member of the Clinic’s operational management team.

As a Donation Nurse Team Manager you will coordinate, lead and develop your team to ensure that the team delivers an excellent Donation service to patients. This includes patients who require egg, sperm and embryo donation. The Donation team also manage patients wishing to proceed with egg sharing, shared motherhood, known donation, co-parenting and those requiring surrogacy. We will ensure that you are fully trained in Donation Services to enable you to provide information, support and clinical care throughout the patient’s journey.

You will be a hands on from-the-front leader who will drive performance through your team by utilising clear leadership, coaching and people management. You will have the support of and will work with the Group Donation Lead to ensure continuity of donation processes across the Group. We have clear and robust donation treatment pathways and policies and a governance and quality framework that supports our team in this interesting and challenging role.

The Role

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Donation Nursing Team by providing appropriate supervision and direction to nursing and administrative direct reports
  • Be an active member of the Clinic’s Management Team
  • Deal with enquiries from prospective egg and sperm donors and follow the donor referral and appointment pathways, assessing donors in line with donation and screening policies
  • Ensure donors and recipients are aware of the legal implications of donation / using donated gametes
  • Support patients with the consent to treatment process
  • Teaching patients to inject fertility drugs and administer other medications
  • To provide emotional support to patients with empathy and understanding. Signposting patients to CARE’s counselling support services and relevant external support services.

Who you are

Great team player? Real people person? Someone who loves leading a team? As well as being passionate about leadership, you’ll need the following skills:

  • Essential to have a qualification as a registered nurse or midwife, with current NMC registration
  • Proven people-manager experience
  • Significant proven experience post registration in roles where you have provided complex information to patients
  • A natural self-starter with the ability to be flexible and empathetic to deliver patient needs
  • Ability to prioritise and adapt to meet patient and business need
  • Excellent problem-solving and research skills
  • Excellent verbal and numerical skills
  • Flexible and able to independently judge potential situations, identify and take alternative courses of action without putting the client or business at risk
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • An understanding and appreciation of patient confidentiality
  • Act as a CARE Fertility ambassador
  • A desire for continuous personal and professional development
