The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Laboratory Manager to join the experienced team at Nurture Fertility in Nottingham. Nurture Fertility celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and as such is one of the longest standing IVF clinics in the UK and prides itself in having success rates consistently above the national average. Nurture Fertility is part of TFP, one of the largest providers of IVF in the UK. Our clinics, staff and patients all benefit from the partnership and all the expertise within the group

 

The Deputy Laboratory Manager is to provide effective day to day supervision of the embryology and andrology services (including effective rota management), the supervision and training of junior embryology staff, ensure appropriate laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures, quality management, monitoring of laboratory performance, troubleshooting and audits. In the absence of the Laboratory Manager the post holder will be expected to deputise for the duties of the Laboratory Manager.

 

The position is full time 37.5hrs/week and will require some weekend and out of hours work, including participation in an on-call rota. We will also consider reduced working hours.

 

Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and experienced clinical embryologist to join the team at our state of the art facility in Nottingham. The post is ideally suited to candidates with at least 4 years clinical experience who have obtained state registration either via ACE certificate or, via STP routes. 

 

The successful candidate will have specific areas of responsibility including, managing the daily workload, weekly rota and attending operational meetings. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a team player, be able to work independently and have good attention to detail.

 

The successful candidate will join a team of 10 laboratory staff including andrologists, laboratory assistants, practitioners and embryologists. The laboratory offers all standard embryology and andrology procedures and in addition also offers blood hormone analysis, NK cell analysis and Pre Implantation Genetic Testing.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rapidly expanding clinic giving the candidate plenty of scope for personal development, participation in research & benefiting from working closely with scientists both within the clinic and throughout TFP.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential

  • Biological science undergraduate degree
  • HCPC state registration as a clinical scientist
  • 4+ years experience in clinical embryology
  • Previous experience at senior/managerial level
  • Excellent communication, decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to clearly and empathetically interact with patients at all levels of their fertility journey
  • Understanding and compliance with the HFEA code of practice

Desirable

  • Postgraduate degree/qualification
  • Previous experience with training junior embryologists
  • Involvement in research projects
  • Trophectoderm biopsy practitioner
  • Experience with time-lapse incubation and use of prediction models

 

Location - Sandicare, Nottingham

Salary - Competitive

Hours - Full Time or will consider reduced hours
