Belfast Fertility Northern Ireland’s leading private fertility clinic are seeking a Deputy Laboratory Manager to join our expanding team at our state of the art Belfast clinic. The company: Established in 2013 has grown rapidly and joined the Fertility Partnership in late 2016.  In May 2017 we successfully completed the merger of Origin Fertility Care into our Belfast facility to create Northern Ireland’s largest private fertility clinic. The Deputy Laboratory Manager is to provide effective day to day supervision of the embryology and andrology services (including effective rota management), the supervision and training of junior embryology staff, ensure appropriate laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures, quality management, monitoring of laboratory performance, troubleshooting and audits. In the absence of the Laboratory Manager the post holder will be expected to deputise for the duties of the Laboratory Manager.  

 

The post holder’s roles include clinical liaison, non-routine clinical decision making within the embryology laboratory and responsibility for matters relating to the HFEA.  These tasks are in addition to the normal working expectations of an embryologist within the GCRM-Belfast team.

Experience Required:  Applicants should have a First Class or Upper Second Class Biological Sciences degree, a postgraduate qualification is desirable but not essential. The ideal candidate will also possess at least 4 years post state registration clinical experience & previous experience in a senior embryology post. Good communication, decision making, negotiating, and problem solving skills are essential in this role as well as the ability to work under minimal supervision and have practical knowledge of process improvement and troubleshooting. The position is full time 37.5hrs/week and will require some weekend and out of hours work, including participation in an on-call rota. Consideration will be given to candidates looking for flexible working hours. Salary:  £50,000- £55,000 (Commensurate with experience)
