Clinical Embryologist

Competitive salary, depending upon skills and experience

Are you an experienced clinical embryologist looking for a new challenge?
Do you want to join a new and exciting service?
Then we may have what you are looking for…

This new service has been established in response to the rising costs of assisted conception treatment both to patients treated privately and due to the very limited NHS funded provision. It is an exciting time to join us at this early stage of our service. BPAS Fertility consists of a hub unit in central London where the embryology and andrology labs are located and two satellite units outside of London where ultrasound scans and cycle management are carried out.

In the hub, a team of Nurses, Midwives, Doctors, Embryologists, Administrators and a Counsellor collaboratively provide not-for-profit, patient-centred, evidence-based fertility treatments including IVF, ICSI, frozen embryo cycles, fertility preservation and intra uterine inseminations for a whole range of patients.

As a Clinical Embryologist at BPAS Fertility you will participate in the effective operation of the reproductive laboratory ensuring compliance with the HFEA Code of Practice. You will contribute to the embryology service performing all assisted reproductive procedures and will provide specialist, clinical and scientific advice as well as supervision for laboratory support staff and participation in research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of fresh and cryopreserved sperm for in vitro fertilisation (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and intrauterine insemination (IUI).
  • Handling and manipulation of oocytes and embryos for assessment of fertilisation, early cleavage, and blastocyst development, including use of time-lapse analysis.
  • Maintenance and completion of records in accordance with HFEA regulations and compliance with their guidelines.
  • Participation in laboratory quality management including monitoring, audit, review, traceability and validation.
  • Communication with patients about all embryology related information throughout their treatment so that they can make informed decisions.

About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic HCPC registered embryologist who is competent in performing all routine embryological procedures who has sound knowledge of human reproduction and fertility treatment as well as the HFEA Code of Practice.

  • Degree in Life Science along with ACE Certificate in Clinical Embryology/STP Reproductive Science (or equivalent) and State Registration with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist.
  • ICSI practitioner with evidence of an active CPD.
  • An exceptional communicator with sound listening skills and attention to detail.
  • An excellent team player.
