Key skills
 Laboratory discipline
Experienced in planning, devising and executing various tasks within the two halves of an assisted conception laboratory, Embryology and Andrology; as the majority of my Master’s degree focused on simulating real-life clinical situations such as, communication between team members within the lab, sample witnessing system (automated and manual witnessing), and ensuring sample safety via abiding to aseptic techniques.

Laboratory experience

  • Autumn 2017 Andrology and Cryopreservation

Cairo University Research Park, Cairo University.
 Conducted a laser treatment study as basis for enhancing sperm parameters of cryopreserved buffalo semen samples.
 Enhanced knowledge on andrology and possible implementation on human samples as part of in-vitro studies.

  • Spring 2018 Genetics of Male infertility

Genetica DNA Laboratory (Private clinic)
 Investigated the genetic effects of microdeletions and their correlation with male infertility, which enhanced my research techniques and patient communication skills in a practical setting.
 The study introduced me to high caliber equipment used extensively for research such as ELISA and multiplex PCR.

  • 2020 – 2021 Embryology and Andrology

Ninewells Medical school, University of Dundee
 Detailed explanation and hands-on training on sample safety, IVF equipment and gamete handling.
 Training on ICSI rig stand, embryoscope and gamete manipulation devices.
 Comprehensive training on sperm analysis, sperm preparation for IVF insemination, sperm selection for ICSI injection.
 Awareness of clinical issues and controversies within the field of assisted conception such as the common use of ICSI for non-male factor infertility cases, the necessity of treatment add-ons and current sperm selection techniques for ICSI injections.
 Clinical setting

  • 2020 – 2021 Patient follow-up

Ninewell’s ACU, Dundee
 Conducted a patient follow-up through a treatment cycle; which enhanced patient history taking ability and communication.
 Comprehensive shadowing of a clinical embryologist in the Ninewells ACU to accommodate a real clinical scenario in addition to an overview of validation procedures such as SOP planning/review.
 Practicing the HFEA guidelines and patient confidentiality in a clinical setting.
