WORKSHOP DETAILS

Workshop 1 Mechanics of Micromanipulators  

Venue: Hotel Radisson Blu, Indore Date and time: 8th August, 2014, 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM

The workshop focuses on know how of all available Micromanipulation systems for ICSI and PGD (mechanical, hydraulic and electrical). This is not a hands-on ICSI workshop. The participants will learn in detail the mechanical aspects of the ICSI workstations including the trouble shooting points. This is the first of it’s kind in the world and bringing to the participants Olympus-Narishige, S-Micromanipulator, Eppendorf Micromanipulator and RI Integra system all together under one roof. Each workstation will be having a company engineer and an embryologist to interact with the participants. What will you learn? • Learn about the setting up of your inverted microscope before ICSI including the proper optical alignments • Know more about the requirement for precision movement in the x, y and z direction with sub-micron resolution which has created a range of mechanical, hydraulic and electric devices designed to deliver accurate, smooth and controllable movement. • Know about the oil, pneumatic syringes • Know about the mechanical aspects of each micromanipulator • Learn how to trouble shoot the problems of micromanipulators during ICSI • Know about the needle alignment issues with each micromanipulators • Learn about the heating systems for each set up • Learn trouble shooting points – needle blockage, sperm movement in the injection pipette, air bubbles in the tubing, how to fill oil, dish preparations, The workshop is open for anyone interested in ART, but particularly suited for clinical embryologists.

Workshop 2 (COMBO) Batching in IVF: Clinical and Laboratory aspects Plus Clean Room Technology for IVF Units Workshop

Venue: Hotel Radisson Blu, Indore Date and time: 8th August, 2014, 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM

The workshop (1st Half) focuses on organizational aspects of batch IVF program; clinical and laboratory insights to achieve a better outcome. The participants will learn the latest in stimulation protocols, batch IVF management and trouble shooting points. The 2nd Half of the workshop will focus on basic and advanced technological advancement in clean room technology for IVF units. This workshop will have Dr. Kathryn C Worrilow, PhD (USA) as the lead faculty. What will you learn? Batching in IVF • Basics of laboratory set up for batch IVF • Learn about the ideal stimulation protocols • Learn how to get ready for the batch –Laboratory preparations, patient preparations etc • Learn about the proper ordering, quality checks of drugs, culture media and disposables • Learn about the proper power supply, culture systems, medical grade CO2, mixed gases and its availability • Learn about how the air quality affect the embryos and pregnancy outcome • Trouble shooting points in batch IVF • Best ways to increase pregnancy rate in batch IVF • Know about the proper freezing technology and FET preparations • Learn about the donor-recipient and surrogate preparations and legal issues Clean Room Technology • Learn the Basics of Clean room components for IVF unit • Learn how the clean room facility enhance embryo health and pregnancy rate • Know more about the VOC filtration units • Learn about the HEPA, UVc lights and its impact on Clean room facility • Learn how to build the clean room facility for your IVF unit The workshop is open for anyone interested in ART, but particularly suited for clinicians and embryologists interested in batch IVF/Air quality management.

Workshop 3 Vitrification: Oocytes, Embryos and Ovarian/Testicular Tissues

The workshop focuses on Laboratory set up for vitrification, Various devices and media for vitrification, trouble shooting points and quality control issues. The workshop will also highlight know how on storage systems and inventory of frozen cells/tissues. What will you learn? • Principles on Oocyte, embryo and tissue vitrification • Define the major components of vitrification media and their individual components in order to make a more informed decision regarding choice of vitrification/thawing media. • Recognize that the ability to minimise intracellular stress is a significant factor in being able to successfully freeze/thaw oocyte/embryos • Know how to use various vitrification media and devices, and related procedures, in order to achieve optimal treatment results. • Learn about the Multi thermal gradient system for cell/tissue freezing • Learn how to maintain the vitrified cells and inventory systems The workshop is open for anyone interested in ART, but particularly suited for clinical embryologists.

Workshop 4 Conventional IVF and trouble shooting

Venue: Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences, Indore Date and time: 8th August, 2014, 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM This workshop is exclusively on conventional IVF, the intentionally forgotten area for many…. technique which mimics the in vivo environment. The focus will be on basics and optimal selection of culture media, tissue culture wares, insemination techniques and trouble shooting. The participants will learn whether they need to do stick to ALL-ICSI policy in normozoospermic cases and even unexplained, borderline male factor or poor responder patients so us to make a justifiable decision. This workshop also include hands on practice on conventional IVF using animal oocytes and there will be a dedicated hands on session on how to perform Sperm DNA fragmentation assay using in-house prepared reagents What will you learn? • Learn about culture systems for conventional IVF • Sperm function tests to decide conventional insemination • Know the best sperm processing techniques for insemination • Know how to decide between ICSI or conventional insemination • Learn about short and long co-incubation • Learn about the culture conditions and outcome • How to prevent infections in culture environment • Learn the trouble shooting points in conventional IVF • Quality control management in IVF • Learn how to perform Sperm DNA fragmentation assay using in-house prepared reagents The workshop is open for anyone interested in ART.
